About the Project

Project I Was a Sari – Livelihood Skills focuses on enhancing the technical skills and earning potential of women artisans through an apprenticeship-based model. The initiative provides advanced training in tailoring, embroidery, and garment- and accessory-related handwork, enabling artisans to improve their craftsmanship, take on more specialised work, and increase their earning potential and stipends.

Implemented in partnership with 2nd Innings Handicrafts Pvt. Ltd., the social enterprise behind the sustainable fashion brand I Was a Sari, the project combines skill development with practical, market-oriented experience to support women’s economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.
