About the Project
Launched in October 2016, Project Saksham empowers women aged 16–55 from low-income and tribal communities through advanced tailoring, garment construction, and practical, livelihood-oriented training. Following a learn-and-earn approach, the project equips women with industry-relevant skills and supports their transition into skilled employment or entrepreneurship.
After completing their training, participants connect with ACT’s income-generation initiatives and garment manufacturing partners, enabling them to fulfil garment orders from home or work in factories. Over five years, 1,127 women graduated from tailoring training and embarked on their livelihood journeys.
