Animedh Charitable Trust

ACT is a non-profit organisation based in Mumbai, India. We pledge to ‘Act to make a difference’ to marginalised children, youth, women and vulnerable communities whose lives are bogged down by poverty or distress and who lack the opportunity to access their full potential, get education or generate income.

In India, women and children constitute more than 70% of the total population. But they remain marginalised, poor and socially excluded, especially in the weaker sections of our society. We are determined to reverse this social inequity. Our role as a civil society is to help fulfill their dreams of education, livelihood, inclusion, well-being and social justice.

Testimonials

What they say about us

Another year of amazing achievements together with ACT and its DONNA project. The number of artisans involved in our production has significantly increased, and the same happened for the number of products manufactured both in variety and volume.
The DONNA team is de-facto an extension of our company. Our staff are constantly in touch and always able to help each other. What makes me really happy is that whenever we have an issue the common attitude is to fix it, rather than pointing at the counterpart. With this approach, I'm sure that we will be able to achieve many more ambitious goals and empower women on a larger scale.
The highlight of our partnership was the Green Carpet Award that we won in September 2019. We will never forget that moment on the stage of the Milan Opera House.

According to the Ministry of women & child development, women and children constitute more than 70% of the population of India, but they remain marginalized, poor and socially excluded, especially in the weaker sections of our society. Covid 19 pandemic has further worsened the situation for women and children. Animedh Charitable Trust (ACT) is determined to reverse this social inequity. Our work toward empowering women, educating girls and uplifting vulnerable communities has helped to transform their lives, otherwise filled with despair and apathy, and enable a bright and happy future for themselves and their families.

We have forged ahead into nine states by joining hands with Water.org as implementation partner for WASH Awareness program in August 2019. Water.org is a global nonprofit organization working to bring water and sanitation to the world. It helps women get access to safe water and sanitation through affordable financing, such as small loans. The partnership aims to empower people in need with these life-changing resources – giving women hope, children health and families a bright future. We continue to work with children, youth, women and families in the vulnerable adivasi community within Dadra Nagar Haveli. Our Donna project on livelihood generation through tailoring and embroidery witnessed a major triumph on ‘Family Day’ as the artisans gained the respect, admiration and accolades from their family members who visited the centres and were simply amazed at the garments they produced.

The purpose of this website is to showcase the humble efforts and magnificent outcomes that have impacted hundreds of our beneficiaries who are now able to shape their dreams to reality. We wish to raise donations to further this cause and help more and more needy and deserving women and girls. We hope to spread awareness about our work and the various programs and activities that you can contribute to. We thank our patrons and champions for the unstinted support and resources extended year on year, in the pursuit of our mission. We wish you and your loved ones good health and safety during these Covid Pandemic times.
